Give it a Whirl - Rainbow popout

I am so in love with Stampin' Up's give it a Whirl die , I can't stand it!  I have made these cards before using templates and even bought some dies from other companies but this is the easiest of the dies to use and it is so super fast and easy.  So many variations you can make with the coordinating window shapes -  Stampin' Up has really done it - made the ultimate reveal wheel card

The secret to making this card is having another circle diecut which was cut as shown at the end of the rainbow and across the lower part of the rainbow but just half way- see the inked line.  it is then attached only on the bottom half to the larger scalloped wheel so the top is free and unattached.
The front of the card should be stamped however you wish. I used the Basic Borders diecut to cut a cloud and used that to create clouds with Balmy Blue ink and blending brushes.  I stamped the sunshine from Sharing sunshine set in Daffodil Delight and the sentiment from the After the Storm set in black.

I put the wheel where it was supposed to go and  I cut a slit where I wanted the rainbow to come out on the front rectangular piece.

It is easier if you put the brad in to know where the wheel goes then put a mark where the rainbow should come out  then cut the slit *make sure not

to go all the way to the brad.

I then had the rainbow slide in as shown.

This is what it looks like in the back.

the front piece is on the bottom with the rainbow circle in between and the scalloped circle wheel on top.  I put a bunch of dimensionals to pop it up then attached it to the Bermuda Bay basecard.

I like to have the wheel unencumbered when I spin so I cut the base card where the wheel is with the matching circle die.

I added some clouds on dimensionals so it would hide the slit - make sure you place the dimensionals  so that the rainbow would slide out from behind the cloud, without getting caught.

This is the rainbow coming out halfway.
the clous on the left is on 2 stacked dimensionals to give ample room for the rainbow to pop out. it also hides the brad- you can see here in orange color (I was using one of the old retired SU brads to demo)

I put a sunshine at the end- from the sheep die from Sale-a bration.  The cloud on the right side is also popped up from dimensionals and it works as a stop.

Is this not the cutest card?

I keep collecing all things sunshine- I bought the After the storm set just for the sentiment - I am also looking at the Celebrate with Flowers set becuase it has a vertical happy birthday sentiment and one that says "May your day be filled with

Sunshine"  - can't wait to make more of these- It would really make someone's day!

One of these days I will figure out how to make a you-tube video to should you how to do it- it is easier to show you than to describe it.....

Enjoy!

GIve it a Whirl - Peekaboo Farm

I'm in love with this Give it a whirl die- I 'm now just looking at every set to see how I can use it with this die.  This set was perfect for this.

Base card is white thick. Diecut the circle with thick cardstock as well and stamp- hello there, Miss you and the sheep on the wheel in black.

I stamped the pig and the cow where I though they ought to be,  stamped the same onto post it notes and cut it out and used it over the images to make sure the balmy blue I was using blender brushes would not cover the animals.  I did the same to the clouds I cut out to make sure they stayed white while I colored in the sky.  stamp the rock wall and the hooves of the animals on a scrap and color and cut it out. mount the wall with tape and hooves with dimensionals.  added a strip of grass (another company) in Pear pizazz. stamp the bird and color in.

So Stinking Cute!

Give it a whirl- Oh Snap

When I saw this crocodile set I could not help myself but to get it- it just makes me smile- his funny face-  it is now retired but we made a card like this in one of our classes this spring before it retired but when I saw the Give it a whirl die i knew I wanted to make it with the creatures in his mouth.

The basecard is white thick. diecut the wheel in thick white CS as well and stamp the animals and sentiments (are inbetween the animals)  on the wheel.  I auditioned the crocodile to see where he would best fit with the circle window - that is the beauty of the stampin up die that you can really  adjust it put it where you need it. Super brilliant whoever came up with the design.  The front rectangle piece was coloed using the faux torn paper technique- tear a piece of paper and use it on either side and used blender pen and balmy blue to create the water then added the waves with black and same with flowers. Colored in flowers using Poppy parade.

stamp the crocodile on a scrap piece of paper, color in with granny apple green light and dark stampin blends and cut it out and mount with dimensionals- the upper mouth/ snout covers the brad. Make usre you mount the crocodile in a way the dimensionals do not cover the round opening otherwise the mechanism does not work- ask me how I know....

Another thing - when you stamp the animals in the circle, you have to make sure the direction of the animals. the first time I did this I stamped the animals using the circle template that I made and the animals were all in the wrong direction so I had to turn the wheel around and do it again on the back- i do this a lot!

I just whipped this out in no time at all- so easy with this die!

Sweet strawberry variations

So sweet - this was a Stamp-n- chat challenge for our group. The base card is white thick cardstock with a layer of Real Red embossed with painted texture embossing folder.  The Berry Delightful DSP (retired) strip across the card.  A piece of white circle stamped with the leaves in black and colored it in with old olive.  stamp and diecut the two strawberries, stems, and flowers and mount with tape and dimensionals as shown.   The sentiment is stamped onto a piece diecut from Ornate Frames dieset.

This is another card I made with base card of real red and layer of Granny Apple Green. The white cardstock had impression made with Stitched with Whimsy die to create the marginal stitching.  Stampe the senitment in balck and a set of leaves with flowers.  Stamp 2 strawberreis and 3 flowers on a scrap of white using real red and black ink . color the center of the flowers with daffodil delight and diecut and mount with dimensionasl as shown.  Such fun cards!

Give it a Whirl- Measure of Love

I just love scale stamps- I had to have it and of course the give it whirl dieset has a rectangle that has the almost perfect opening for the sentiments.

The base card is real red with sentiment stamped in versamark and heat embossed in white.  I diecut with a part of the circle die the part where the wheel would be so it would be unencumbered to turn.

the mechanism cover I cut short and only used the top part of the rectangle so the sentiment would show below and I only needed 4" square of the pattern party DSP (hostess item)

I stamped the sentiments on the wheel- using a template I made before- stamped the scale in white and colored it in with real red and smoky slate and mounted using dimensionals to  hide the brad.  and the measureing cups from What's cooking set stamped in pear pizazz and diecut and mounted with dimensionals as well. Looks hard but super easy!

Artistic Dies in white

You know I can't throw away anything i think I may have use for later.  I had this tiny strip of glimmer paper sitting on my desk for eons.   I was looking to make a clean and simple card and this is what came out. Take a basecard of white thick.  take another piece of white cardstock and diecut the large open flowers as shown.  Use dimensionals to mount the flowers and he carstock- some of the solid leaves on the end were I attached with dimensionals behind it.  Not sure why there is a yellow tinge but the whole card is just white on white. I put the pumpkin pie cardstock behind it so it would show better on the picture but maybe that is why
added the strip of glimmer paper -so clean and simple-  now it reinforces the idea that I was right to keep that tiny strip...

I need to join hoarders anonymous!

Artistically Inked flowers in polished pink

I was inspired by this card on the left which was made using Blushing bride basecard, layer of white with the flower stamped on the upper 2/3rd as shown.  Added the 3/8 inch metallic blushing bride ribbon (retired) and took a piece of the Taylor Made Tag die and stamped the thanks and mounted with dimensions.  Diecut the leaves in gold and tucked it in hear and there- i cut one of the leaves that would have been hidden by the tag and attached it on the top right.  So very pretty.

So I took base of white thick CS and added a layer of white stamped with polished pink flowers - some direct, some stamped off and leaves tucked in between in old olive - diecut the leaves in white and cut it up to make it look the way you see it

add a strip of 1/2 inch white with I'm thinking of you from Art Gallery set.

Enjoy.
