Beach Volleyball card for Elisabeth

Every year some friends of my DH from school and their families and we go camping and this year I found out one of their girls was a big beach volleyball fan.  They brought a net and balls and they were playing on the beach next to the ocean and it was really amazing to watch them play.  Anyhow, Elisabeth's birthday is coming up in a few weeks and I thought it would be fun to make her a beach volleyball card.  It uses Hiilei stamp from Sister stamps who is swimming in water but her position could be someone diving for a ball so I used it for this.  The net is hand drawn using basic grey and ball is punched in 1 1/4 inch circle punch and hand drawn with smoky slate marker.  I know I have ball stamps somewhere in my collection but for the life of me could not find it anywhere so I searched the internet and found the design on the web and just drew it in. I did sponge the edges a bit to create a little shadow.

CAS435 Kaumaka Sandplay

CAS435 was to make a summertime card and I've been wanting to use this stamp that I just got.  I stamped the Beach Scene from CC Designs then stamped Kaumaka (sister stamps)  playing  with sand onto whisper white CS.  I colored the scene with a variety of Copic markers  then inked the sky with the scallop circle punched out. The sentiment is from Echo Park-Vitamin Sea set.  The styles are a little different but still fun.  Mount the sheet onto Dapper Denim CS.

Magical Mermaid

Splitcoast WT641 challenge was to make a Sea Worthy Card. I just got this set and though should make a card with it.  With the mermaid looking back, I wanted her to look at the sunset  while she was in water- so how to make that effect....
I took a thick whisper white CS and watercolored the top with daffodil and the bottom with pool party and stamped the seaweeds with Memento Black.  Make sure to let the part you do first dry well before doing the second part- I did the sunset sky first and then did the pool party sea.

I took a smaller second sheet of water color paper and stamped the seaweed on it .  I wanted to make sure I had similar horizon lines on both sheets.  I stamped the mermaid on a separate scrap sheet of whisper white, colored it in and then used clear Wink of Stella to add glimmer to her hair and the fishtail. I then put a color of pool party over the body to look like she was in water.  Color in the seaweed and stamp the sentiment in Black.

It still looked like she was just floating in air so I took a piece of clear window sheet and cut it to put over the water part and now it really looks like she has her head out of the water.  I put Tombow multipurpose glue (in the little green bottle) it dries clear so I put a fine layer of glue over the mermaid that was under the water and that is what holds the window sheet on the card.

Now all I need is  a forward facing mermaid, Stampin' Up!

Colorful Season Thinking of You

I had to get this set- the chair die is just so cool- I could think of so many things to do with it.  I just think how cool would it be sitting on these chairs drinking some lemonade with a friend?  But I realized there was no place to set the glasses. So I cut another chair turned it upside down and cut off the top section to make a matching table and now it feels perfect.  Love the blossoms and the wooden deck - wood textures DSP.  Used the old scallop punch to make subtle clouds in the sky behind. to make a beautiful day. The little glass with straw is from the same Colorful Seasons set-
Diecut with the matching Seasonal Layers Thinlits

3 variation of Lovely Inside & Out

Saturdays are spent doing laundry, cleaning and baking and while things are washing and baking, I sneak away in little bits of time to play with my stuff.  I'm holding a Stampin' Up party and wanted to make something using the Lovely Inside & Out set.  I love the Lemon Lime Twist and Melon Mambo together so I started with this little piece below using Snow falling EF and Banners for you for the sentiment.  Bent the rubber a bit to fit in the banner which was fine and used stitched shaped framelits to cut a circle to fit behind to show a tiny bit of the lemon lime twist.
This is the second variation using the left over from the first card and then layering it on a whisper white circle over the Lemon Lime twist embossed with Sparkle EF.  It looked a bit flat so I used 2 way glue to add dazzling diamond glitter and it really made it pop.
But I think this is my favorite out of the batch. base is whisper white with a layer of Melon Mambo with Loverly Words cutout.  I took a circle die slightly larger to cut out a circle to show the word and embossed it with sparkle EF too.  I then decided to put a dazzling diamond glimmer paper behind it which really makes it sparkle.  Add a little banner with words and it is done.  Very clean.  I guess you can stamp " for your birthday" or something on the inside for any occasion.

You've Got this Pretty Label

Last week's color challenge was for Sweet sugarplum, wild wasabi and daffodil delight.  I was playing with that and the sketch challenge and I got to playing with the Label me Pretty set for the little element  and this kind of organically evolved into this card.   Base is Wild Wasabi with Daffodil embossed with Woodland embossing folder.  The Whisper white panel was stamped with You've Got This set  with Sweet Sugarplum stamped off.  It was colored in with the aqua painter filled with alcohol using the same colors.  But even stamped off it was too bright and seemed to clash with the label so I cut
a piece of vellum to cover it to soften the color even more and it really helped.  I just wanted to Label to really pop.  The flowers and label was colored using the same technique with the alcohol filled Aqua painter with the same colors. - I cut a piece of Sweet Sugarplum punched and cut across to split it to layer it behind the white piece and raised it up with the dimensionals to pop it up more.
