My sister asked for a shaker card so I obliged.
This card idea had been circling in my head anyway. The basecard is Balmy Blue.
Take a piece of basic white cardstock and use partial cutting technique with the Layering Diorama die. (place the cutting plate on the top part of the die leaving the bottom open so it does not get cut- to create a flat bottom as shown) Emboss the top of the cardstock with the pinecone image on the Wintry embossing folder and stamp the sentiment on the bottom in black.
take another piece of basic white cardstock -
slightly smaller than the top cardstock and stamp the trees in Mossy Meadow and use the Basic Borders Die to cut a thick basic white cardstock to create a stencil and using Blending brushes and Balmy blue inkpad create the background clouds for the sky. This has been my go to technique for making the sky and it is just gorgeous and makes such a difference in all my cards.
Add a piece of plastic window sheet and tape down on the back side of the opening in the front.
Use Foam adhesive strips and use it to outline the opening on top of the plastic window.
before you take the backing off the foam adhesive strip, check the alignment of the background piece with the window opening- when you have it right you may want to make some pencil marks on the back of the front piece so you can put it back on after putting in the shaker pieces without having to look again.
I also put the deer with a dimensional on the back ground piece to make it pop up a bit.
with the front of the card down with the window sheet above that and the foam adhesive strips on the window sheet, put some shaker element into the well- I used the Subtle Shimmer sequins from the Mini catalog- then remove the backing from the foam adhesive strips and put the back piece on to secure the sequins in place. Now you can flip the whole thing over and mount it onto the Balmy blue base- you may need to put more dimensionals in the corner.
stamp the other deer and the bunny, color it in and mount it and you are all done!
All the shakers work the same way and with the foam adhesive strips, it makes it much easier since you can use it to make any shape shaker.
